Well, it is Feburary isn’t it? Valentines day just makes the luv juices flow. I think in light of that that it was appropiate to send some of my Luv out to 2 of my favorite plugins:  KeywordLuv and CommentLuv.

KeywordLuv

KeywordLuv LogoKeywordLuv is a really neat plugin that allows you to share the luv to people that leave comments on your site. For example, instead of just putting you name in the name field you get to put you name in the name field and a little word or two about what you do. That word(s) (notoriously known as Keywords) then translates to a link and that link then links back to your site.

For example: instead of CJ I would enter CJ @ Online Technical Writing. Once the comment is submitted on a site that is KeywordLuv friendly the name field changes to CJ from Online Technial Writing. Now there is a nice little backlink from the site I’m commenting on back to my site. So if someone wants to know about technical writing or hire me for these services, they can click on the link and it sends them right on over to my site.

CommentLuv

CommentLuv LogoCommentLuv is like the kissing cousin to KeywordLuv. This is also a plugin that allows you to share the luv to people that leave comments on your site. You must first download the CommentLuv plugin and install it, but once you do, it will send a feed to the site you are leaving a comment on. At the bottom of the form, usually around or under the submit button, you will notice a little check box with the title of the lastblog post you published. Next to that is a down arrow.

Once you have installed and configured CommentLuv you will see your last 10 posts. You can select a different post by clicking on the red arrow. Now when you submit your comment the last line in the comment will read:

CJ@Online Technical Writing´s last blog ..Video Killed the Online Technical Writing Star My ComLuv Profile

Isn’t luv grand?

Spread the Luv

So why should you spread the luv? Well, because this helps us all. Really, doesn’t luv make the world go around? There are a lot of us trying to make a living online. We are all in the same boat, more or less. By supporting each other it ensures that small businesses have a chance to thrive and grow. This isn’t about who can out do whom. It’s about supporting each other, probably now more than ever.

I have found more than one great blog and businesses that help support me. I created a Luv Recommends section on my blog (more commonly known as Blog Roll) I changed it to show support to all those bloggers that I not only follow, but who are also all about the Luv.

I only grazed the surface of how Luv makes the world go around, but I don’t believe in reinventing the wheel and I would like to give credit where credit is due. For a lot of details about the Luv plugins, check out GrowMap’s post on KeywordLuv. If you’ve never heard of GrowMap and you are a small business looking to build traffic, you really need to read some of the posts there.
