Well, it is Feburary isn’t it? Valentines day just makes the luv juices flow. I think in light of that that it was appropiate to send some of my Luv out to 2 of my favorite plugins: KeywordLuv and CommentLuv.
KeywordLuv
KeywordLuv is a really neat plugin that allows you to share the luv to people that leave comments on your site. For example, instead of just putting you name in the name field you get to put you name in the name field and a little word or two about what you do. That word(s) (notoriously known as Keywords) then translates to a link and that link then links back to your site.
For example: instead of CJ I would enter CJ @ Online Technical Writing. Once the comment is submitted on a site that is KeywordLuv friendly the name field changes to CJ from Online Technial Writing. Now there is a nice little backlink from the site I’m commenting on back to my site. So if someone wants to know about technical writing or hire me for these services, they can click on the link and it sends them right on over to my site.
CommentLuv
CommentLuv is like the kissing cousin to KeywordLuv. This is also a plugin that allows you to share the luv to people that leave comments on your site. You must first download the CommentLuv plugin and install it, but once you do, it will send a feed to the site you are leaving a comment on. At the bottom of the form, usually around or under the submit button, you will notice a little check box with the title of the lastblog post you published. Next to that is a down arrow.
Once you have installed and configured CommentLuv you will see your last 10 posts. You can select a different post by clicking on the red arrow. Now when you submit your comment the last line in the comment will read:
CJ@Online Technical Writing´s last blog ..Video Killed the Online Technical Writing Star ![]()
Isn’t luv grand?
Spread the Luv
So why should you spread the luv? Well, because this helps us all. Really, doesn’t luv make the world go around? There are a lot of us trying to make a living online. We are all in the same boat, more or less. By supporting each other it ensures that small businesses have a chance to thrive and grow. This isn’t about who can out do whom. It’s about supporting each other, probably now more than ever.
I have found more than one great blog and businesses that help support me. I created a Luv Recommends section on my blog (more commonly known as Blog Roll) I changed it to show support to all those bloggers that I not only follow, but who are also all about the Luv.
I only grazed the surface of how Luv makes the world go around, but I don’t believe in reinventing the wheel and I would like to give credit where credit is due. For a lot of details about the Luv plugins, check out GrowMap’s post on KeywordLuv. If you’ve never heard of GrowMap and you are a small business looking to build traffic, you really need to read some of the posts there.

Thank you CJ for supporting the dofollow KeywordLuv CommentLuv community and for sharing your own views on why supporting each other is so very important.
As more and more bloggers start understanding the importance of anchor text and linking to each other all will rise in the search engines and get more traffic.
Even without the search engine traffic incentive the relationships we are building within the community will be key to our mutual successes.

Jeff – thanks for stopping by. I see your blog keywordluv friendly. Cool.
Never knew about all the Public Domain material out there. Stop by any time. I have a KeywordLuv Blogroll on my site, but mostly the ones that I follow and recommend to others, but there are other directories that have an extensive list. The best one I found is: DoFollow Blog Directory & Resources.
If you check it out let me know what you think.

I do believe that commentluv makes it more engaging for visitors to participate in the conversation, also I love how keywordluv enables commentors to write their name and their keyword at the same time. This makes commenting more hassle free.

Ozzky — thanks for visiting. There is a big debate about KeywordLuv and whether it’s a good thing or bad thing. I still use it and highly recommend it, especially if you’re new to blogging. I like using it because I think it not only helps me, but also give you more exposure too. Glad you stopped by.

Hi. Undoubtedly, plugins such as Keywordluv, when used responsibly serve a mutually beneficial purpose. I thank you for making it available and trust that the spammers don’t cause you to remove it. I wish you continued success with your well-designed site.

Ashely — thanks for stopping by. I know there is a huge debate about Keywordluv, but so far I have managed to stay on top of the spammers. With any luck my span blockers will do most of the work for me. Maybe if I get really really big like some other bloggers I know and love, I’ll change my mind, but until then, I say: let the LUV flow

The way i see it is, we need to help as many small businesses develop online.

Hi , I’ve been at this for years but I don’t pay attention like I should. I’ve used footprint searches (didn’t know what it was called) for a long time but not only did I not realize SEOQuake allowed us to sort the search results, I didn’t know we could change the number of results in Google to a hundred. I also noticed we can set it to open the search results in a new browser window. It’s hard to believe I never noticed that ‘search settings’ link on Google. I appreciate the post, you just made ALL of my searching easier.

Bruno — glad to hear that we could help. SEO is something most, including me, seem to push down on the list, but it is a necessary item that I’ll get around to some day
